Service Learning Overview

 

Service Learning update:

 

  • Service Opportunity: Grimmer Elementary Movie Night 
    • When: Friday May 13th 3:30pm-8:30pm
    • Where: Grimmer Elementary
    • What: setting up the cafeteria, tech support for connecting the movie to the projector, working in the kitchen to sell the packaged food items to students and their families, and cleaning up at the end of the movie night.

  • DISTRICT DEADLINE TO TURN IN SERVICE LEARNING HOURS IS MAY 15th. 
    • Classes 2023,2024,& 2025 All service done between May 16th and August 18th (1st day of school) Will be able to be submitted during the 1st quarter of next school year. 

 

  • Service-Learning hours not a mandatory graduation requirement for the class of 2022

 

  • CHANGE PROJECT: It has been requested and agreed upon with the Change Project Coordinator that:
    • All Change Project Service hours will be turned into your Change Project Teacher
      • NOT SERVICE KARMA
      • Change project teachers will give the service learning coordinator the list of all completed hours.
      • Change project hours are all service hours that are graded towards the Change project. 
    • All training hours that are not graded change project service hours will be submitted through Service Karma. (maximum of 5 hours permitted and must be connected to your actual service provided.) 
      • This is training required before your actual service can be done.
    • All hours not connected to Change will be submitted through Service Karma 

 

  • Volunteer Contact Information for select Non-Profit Organizations added to file folder.

 

  • The deadline for service hours done before August 18th 2021 has ended.
    • No submissions of services hours done before August 18th 2021 will be accepted. 
    • Only Hours served after 8/18/2021 will be excepted 

 

  •   All hours will need to be verified using the current Service Hours Verification form to be accepted.
    • Printed copy located on the "form" cart in Student Union (Viking Vendor) located in the cafeteria)
    • Electronic document located in file list
    • Pictures and videos in IHS Service Presentation Power Point

 

  • Service Karma will be used to collect and track service 
    • You must be registered on Service Karma
      • Website: ServiceKarma.com
      • Download App in app store: Service Karma 
        • Logo Located in file folder
    • IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES SIGNING UP ON SERVICE KARMA PLEASE ATTEND MR. JONES'S FLEX IN 104 ON FLEX DAYS.
      • Jones WILL NOT be in room 104 during Flex on Tuesday January 26th because of Make Up PE. 

 

  • Power point presentation with general information now available in file folder.

 

  • Service hour requirements:
    • Class of 2022: 20 hours 
    • Class of 2023: 20 hours
    • Class of 2024: 30 hours
    • Class of 2025: 40 hours

 

  • Students can check current status of service hours toward graduation requirement on Infinite campus. 
    • For instruction click on "IC Flyer Check Service Hours" located in file folder.
